The State of Operational Technology and Cybersecurity

As more and more OT organizations embrace the convergence of OT and IT, the frequency and sophistication of attacks exploiting that convergence has risen dramatically

Part of this is due to the newly exposed opportunities for financial or political gain for those of malicious intent, but there is also a mismatch between the rates of technological and organizational convergence within the sector.

According to the latest “State of Operational Technology and Cybersecurity Report” from Fortinet, some 65% of OT leaders report still being responsible for embedding security within operational processes, with many viewing security as an impediment to their main work. However, the majority of these are planning to transition this responsibility to the CISO within the next year.

Furthermore, firms that have already done this are twice as likely to have avoided OT-related breaches in the past year.
